October Trips

Freikofel Trenches Overnight Hike. Price $310. Ages 12+ only.
Calling all history-loving adventurers! Get ready for a weekend full of exploring Mt. Freikofel, located in the Carnic Alps of Italy and Austria. This mountain was the scene of bloody skirmishes between Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers during WWI in the Italian trenches. The summit of Mt. Freikofel is the core of an open-air museum as you will find plenty of traces, remains, and ruins testifying the battles that were fought there, in addition to the Chapel of the Val Tagliamento Battalion and Austro-Italian memorial site. On one of the trails sit some machine gun pits surrounded by cement walls and the slits that faced enemy lines. Also visible is the historically significant “Shielded Italian Trench” (where Italian soldiers tracked movements of enemy troops across no-man’s land) which overlooks the whole valley below. You will spend the night in the barracks ruins near the base camp that was rebuilt in what is sure to be a truly trench-style experience!

Ferrari and Lamborghini Museums. Price $140. SAI $70.
Join ITT for a day of fast cars! The museums offer opportunities to do a driving simulation for the Prancing Horse F1 single-seater, there are also simulations where you can pit yourself against a specific circuit and try to beat the times of other enthusiasts in the process, you can also test out your skills with tire change tests set up similar to the classic pit stops. The Ferrari museum halls also features a photographic set, complete with a Ferrari 458 Special A which visitors are welcome to sit in and have one or more photographs taken by staff.

Villa Sandi Wine Tasting. Ages 18+. Prices $75.
The Moretti Polegato Family, owner of Villa Sandi, is devoted to the culture of wine. The winery is well known around the world for its wines and, in particular, its Prosecco. Villa Sandi is located between the DOCG areas of the Prosecco di Valobbiadene and the DOC areas of the wines of the Montello and the Colli Asolani. The villa dates back to 1622. Inside of the Villa, there is a beautiful shop with all the wines and beauty products such as hand creams, and other refined gift items. If you are a lover of wine, this is the trip for you!

When most people envision Italy, they think of wonderful food, the breath-taking coast, and rich cultural history. Milan, Italy’s second largest city in population and first in economical importance. Milan is the Home of Italy’s most influential clothing and shoe design houses. Life in Milan focuses around the Piazza del Duomo, located in the center of the City. The town center is dominated by the huge Gothic Cathedral, Europe’s third largest Church. The Church, constructed on and off for a period of 450 years (starting in 1386), has 2,245 statues, 1,356 spires and 96 gargoyles. Near the Cathedral stand the Ambrosian Library, the Sforza Castle, and the Monastery of the Santa Maria delle Grazie, all wonderful sights to take in while admiring the city.

Bologna and FICO. Price $95 adults. $50 kids.
Bologna The beautiful city center is well preserved and full of character, with unified architecture and marbled pavements. The main Piazza Maggiore is a big square on the oldest part of the city with the Neptune fountain that was built in 1566 by Tomaso Laureti of Palermo and later embellished by Giambologna. With a group of angels and fish, it features an enormous statue of Neptune standing at the top oft the fountain. Nearby are the towers of Garisenda and Asinelli which were built during the Medieval time, when more than 100 towers were built. The oldest university in the western world started here in 1088.

Trieste and the Barcolana. Price $70 adults, $35 kids.
Trieste is the capital city of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in northeast Italy. A port city, it occupies a thin strip of land between the Adriatic coast and Slovenia’s border on the limestone-dominated Karst Plateau. Italian, Austro-Hungarian and Slovenian influences are all evident in its layout, which encompasses a medieval old city and a neoclassical Austrian quarter.
The Barcolana is a historic international sailing regatta organized by the yacht club Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano. It takes place every year in the Gulf of Trieste on the second Sunday of October. The Barcolana is one of the most crowded regattas in the world.

Venetian Island Boat Tour. Prices $139 adult. $69 kids.
Set off across the Venetian Lagoon and explore Burano, Murano and Torcello. November Trips

Pisa and Lucca. Prices $140 adult. $70 kids.
PISA: The virtual capital of Tuscany at the time of the collapse of the Roman Empire, Pisa is located in western Tuscany and is known throughout the world for its famous Leaning Tower, but there is so much more to Pisa than just this striking landmark. The ecclesiastical city of Pisa began life as a seaside settlement around 3,000 years ago and was first laid out in the mid-eleventh century. Pisa is crammed full of wonderful, historical monuments and buildings dating back many hundreds of years, and much of the city has retained its medieval appearance.
LUCCA: The city has a great historic and artistic heritage, which it has jealously protected throughout the centuries. The historic city center is characterized by magnificent palazzi, gardens, ancient medieval towers, bastioned city walls, and traditional shops. Lucca contains an endless number of churches, many of these churches have a typical Romanesque architecture. It is also called “the city of 100 churches.” One of the city’s main features is its open spaces, the many gardens and internal courtyards of the ancient houses, the long row of trees that line the length of the city walls, and the impressive oaks that even grow from the top of the ancient Guinigi Tower.

Join ITT as we travel throughout our very own region. Balsameria Midolini is a family-owned balsamic producer in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The first balsamic dressing from the family was created during the ancient Roman times near Aquileia. Today, the farm holds over 2,300 barrels of balsamic. Birrificio Gjulia is the first farmer craft beer from the FVG region. This is where craftsmanship meets the sensitivity of contemporary palates.

Join ITT for an unforgettable food tour as we visit Modena, the hometown of, balsamic vinegar, wine, and Parmigiano- Reggiano cheese factories. Modena is a city in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. It’s known for its balsamic vinegar and opera heritage, plus Ferrari and Lamborghini sports cars.

Paris for Thanksgiving. Price $730 adult. $200 SSF. $365 kids.
Paris, France's capital, is a major European city and a global center for art, fashion, gastronomy and culture. Its picturesque 19th-century cityscape is crisscrossed by wide boulevards and the River Seine. Beyond such landmarks as the Eiffel Tower and the 12th-century, Gothic Notre-Dame cathedral, the city is known for its cafe culture, and designer boutiques along the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Cascate del Mulino hot springs in Saturnia are embedded in the rolling hills of the Tuscan landscape. Holding a steady temperature of 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit, the sulfuric water feels great in this natural open-air pool. The local myth is that it was the 1st established village on the Italian peninsula and that the spring are believed to be the former refuge for the ancient god of Saturn when he was exiled from the “throne of the gods”.
