Arrival & Sign-In

All newly arrived DoD members must report to their respective squadron Command Support Staff (CSS) within 24hrs (1 duty day) of arrival in country. They will provide in-processing checklists and agendas.

All overseas locations require members to be prepared in the event of an emergency situation. All military members with dependents and/or pets and all US civilians assigned to Aviano are required to maintain a NEO binder and a 72-hr kit in the event that Noncombatants are evacuated from the base. Upon in-processing with your unit, you will receive more information from your Unit NEO Warden.

Welcome & In-Processing Schedule

  1. Wyvern Welcome (Base Newcomer's Orientation & In-Processing)
    All military and self-sponsored civilians must attend Wyvern Welcome. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend.
  2. Benvenuti (Welcome) Tour
    Part of the Wyvern Welcome program, this Cultural Adaptation tour is provided to all newcomers and their families. The bus tour takes you around the local area. You will experience an open market, learn some tips on grocery shopping on the economy, have some free time to enjoy a cup of coffee, or perhaps buy some chocolate, bread, cheese, etc. The tour continues on where you will have lunch at a local venue and then finish the day with a visit to a winery and wine tasting.

EFMP-Family Support

Stay in touch with your gaining EFMP-Family Support Coordinator at the Military & Family Readiness Center. They can provide non-clinical case management and support throughout your PCS process. EFMP-Family Support regularly organizes events, trips, and educational opportunities open to EFMP families. Contact your local MFRC to speak with the EFMP-Family Support Coordinator.
